Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we do not, and what happens when you click a product link.

What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run advertising networks or ad retargeting on this site.
- We do not have accounts, logins or user profiles.
- We do not run a newsletter or store an email list.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which recommendations they act on. It sets cookies and collects the usual aggregate information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and time on page.
We use it in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors and we have no way to connect analytics data to a person. Google’s own handling of that data is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
We record one custom event: when you click a product link, we log that a click happened, which merchant it went to and which page it came from. That is how we tell which recommendations are useful. It contains nothing about you.
You can opt out with Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking analytics scripts. The site works normally either way.
Affiliate links
Product links on this site route through a path on our own domain beginning /go/ and redirect you to a retailer, usually Amazon, with our affiliate tag attached. The retailer then sets its own cookies, and if you buy something we receive a commission at no extra cost to you.
What happens after you land on the retailer is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. We receive commission reports containing sales figures and never anything that identifies who bought what.
Full details of the commercial arrangement are at the affiliate disclosure.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, optional subject and message you type. That is sent to our inbox by email so we can reply to you.
We keep it for as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up. We do not add you to any list and we do not use it for anything else. The form also carries invisible anti-spam checks — a hidden field and a timing check — which look at the submission itself rather than at you.
Server logs
Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses and request details, for security and to keep the site running. Their handling is covered by Vercel’s privacy policy.
Cookies
- Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, as described above.
- Retailer cookies set by Amazon and others after you follow a product link — set by them, on their domain.
We set no cookies of our own. Blocking cookies in your browser will not break this site.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to its processing. In practice we hold very little: analytics data we cannot connect to you, and any email you have sent us.
To exercise a right, or to ask what we hold, email info@strandandsteam.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update it here and change the date at the top. Strand & Steam does not notify visitors individually, because we do not hold a list of them.
