What this site is

Strand & Steam, published by Fathom & Foundry, is an editorial site about hair styling tools. We publish manufacturers’ specifications, arithmetic derived from them, and our opinions about which products suit which hair.

We do not sell anything. We do not manufacture, distribute, service or repair any product mentioned here.

What this site is not

• Not professional hairdressing advice. We are not stylists. A hairdresser who can see your hair will give you a better answer than any page here.
• Not medical advice. Nothing here diagnoses or treats anything. If you have a scalp or hair condition that concerns you, see a doctor.
• Not testing. We have not tested the products we write about and we say so on every page. Our content is compiled from published information and computed from it — the method is here.
• Not a guarantee of any outcome. Hair varies, tools vary, and technique matters more than either.

Accuracy

We take real care with the figures here. Every specification is read from the manufacturer’s own product page and linked to it, and every computed figure shows its working.

Even so, manufacturers change specifications, pages move, and mistakes happen. Content is provided as-is, without warranty of accuracy or completeness. Check anything that matters against the manufacturer’s current page before you buy — the link is under every spec block for exactly that reason.

Prices

Prices shown come from a live data feed and are stamped with the date they were verified. They change constantly and are outside our control. The price at checkout is the price — not whatever we last recorded.

Hair tools get extremely hot and are mains electrical appliances. Always follow the manufacturer’s own instructions and safety warnings — they take precedence over anything on this site. Do not use electrical appliances near water. Do not leave a hot tool unattended.

You use any technique described here at your own risk. Heat styling can damage hair, which is why an entire section of this site is about avoiding it.

Intellectual property

The writing, arithmetic, structure and design of this site belong to Fathom & Foundry. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link. Reproducing whole pages, or scraping the site to republish its content, is not permitted.

Product names, brand names and trademarks belong to their owners and are used here descriptively. Mentioning a brand does not imply any relationship with it, and no manufacturer has any involvement in what we publish.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fathom & Foundry is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content, including decisions to buy or not buy a product.
