The 200 W is a battery-side rating and cannot be compared with a corded iron's draw or costed like one.
They solve different problems
The Corrale removes the cord. That buys reach at the back of your head, packability, and touch-ups away from a socket — and it costs you runtime, a battery that ages, and an airline rule to follow.
The Chronos removes the decision. One temperature, no dial to escalate, three years of cover. That buys consistency and costs you the ability to go lower on hair that needs it.
Framed that way the choice is usually obvious: if your complaint is the cord, one of these fixes it, and if your complaint is that you overheat your hair, the other does.
Flexing plates are genuinely unusual
Dyson publishes flexing manganese-copper alloy plates — plates designed to shape around the hair rather than press it flat between two rigid surfaces. It is the only plate design of its kind in this registry, and the claim is mechanical rather than chemical, which makes it more checkable than the coating claims the category usually makes.
ghd publishes floating ceramic plates with an ultra-gloss finish. Floating plates self-align under pressure, which reduces the temptation to squeeze harder to close a gap. Both approaches address the same underlying problem: uneven contact means repeated passes.
The battery, honestly
