We would not buy this for frizz, and the reason is structural rather than a failing of the tool. It has no fan. There is no airflow at all.

Frizz is settled during drying: tension applied while water is leaving the shaft is what lays the cuticle flat. A tool that only works on already-dry hair arrives after that moment has passed. It can smooth what is there, and it cannot change how the hair dried.

What frizz actually is

Frizz is cuticle scales standing away from the shaft instead of lying flat, usually because the hair has taken up moisture from the air and swollen. It is not dirt, it is not damage in every case, and it is not something a coating on a barrel fixes.

The moisture part is measurable. Keratin’s water sorption rises sharply above roughly 60–70 percent relative humidity Breakspear et al., International Journal of Cosmetic Science, with later work separating the behavior of the cuticle from that of the cortex Breakspear et al., 2025. That is why a blow-dry that looked perfect indoors comes apart on a humid walk to work.

Damaged hair frizzes more readily because the cuticle is already lifted. If that describes your hair, the brush is the second purchase; the first is working out how much damage is there.

Technique beats the purchase

  • Rough-dry to 80 percent first. A hot air brush used on soaking hair spends most of its time evaporating water instead of shaping.
  • Point the airflow down the shaft. Root to tip, with the scales. Drying against the direction of growth lifts them.
  • Keep tension until the section is cool. Releasing warm undoes most of the work.
  • Take smaller sections than feels necessary. The outside drying while the inside stays damp is how frizz gets sealed in.
